Therapy for Anxiety in First Responders & Veterans
Anxiety in First Responders is a prevalent issue, often confused with fear, anxiety arises when protective instincts become overwhelming and impact daily life.
Understanding Anxiety in First Responders & Veterans
Anxiety has been compared to the common cold: it is very prevalent. Obviously, anxiety is not the common cold, nor is it the same as fear. Fear protects us. It is what helps keep First Responders alive, and that extra edge many Veterans take from service that can help make them less aloof – like many civilians. However, anxiety is when the protective qualities of fear become problematic. Maybe it is frequently ruminating about the future that keeps a Member awake at night, the constant unease a Veteran might feel, feeling uneasy around certain situations or places, or an abrupt surge of intense panic. Any of these can feel debilitating.
Like the common cold, it is possible to reduce symptoms and regulate anxiety. If you are struggling with anxiety, please consider scheduling a session, or booking a free discovery call.
